Exchange Program 2024-II

The Exchange Program allows UTEC students to have an academic global experience by studying for just one (1) semester in one of our leading partner institutions abroad.

While studying abroad as an exchange studentyou are exempted from paying the tuition fees at the foreign institution due to the exchange student agreement that UTEC has with the foreign institution. However, as an exchange student you will be required to be enrolled at UTEC during the exchange semester and pay the regular tuition fees at UTEC according to your scale of payment to recognize the courses passed under this program.

Every UTEC student who participates in this program must carry the minimum load equivalent to 16 UTEC credits at the foreign university. Before applying the student must verify to have the sufficient credits required by this program.

Take into consideration that this program is in high demand, thus some spots may depend on space available.

- Check out if you fulfill with all the requirements before starting your application and verify the deadline (after the deadline there will be no option to apply).

Requirements for the Exchange Program: 

Applicants must be a full-time current student at UTEC during all the process. 
Applicants must have approved 100 or more UTEC credits.
Applicants must possess a 13.00 GPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) or better. You will be required to submit your Transcript of Records; you can download the unofficial version totally free from (EDU system).

Applicants must possess an excellent level of verbal and written English language. You will be required to submit one of these English certificates with the following scores:

  • - TOEFL ITP with a score of 550
  • - TOEFL IBT with a score of 80 (with a minimum sub-score of 20 for each section)
  • - IELTS Academic with a score of 6.5 (with a minimum sub-score of 6.0 for each section)
  • - Duolingo with a score of at least 120 or higher
  • - Cambridge C1 Advanced

TOEFL ITP, TOEFL IBT,  IELTS ACADEMIC, DUOLINGO AND CAMBRIDGE C1 certifications are valid for 2 years. Certifications with more than 2 years old cannot be accepted for this program.

IMPORTANT: For any academic destination it is mandatory to present one of these certificates. Other English language certificates are not accepted.
Applicants must possess an intermediate level of French or Portuguese language, in case of applying to one University in France or Brazil. You will be required to submit your intermediate level certificate, or a proof that you are currently studying it.

Applicants must possess a valid passport for the duration of your studies abroad. You will be required to submit a scanned copy of the personal data sheet.

IMPORTANT: No document other than the passport will be accepted, as it is required for the student visa application.

Applicant will be required to submit an undocumented Curriculum Vitae in English language (1-2 pages max).
Applicant will be required to submit one motivation essay in English language addressed to the Internationalization Office (1-2 pages max).

Applicants must request one recommendation letter to a current UTEC professor, the letter can be written in Spanish or English language and addressed to the Internationalization Office.

The professor will send the recommendation letter to the following email: Exchange@utec.edu.pe with the subject: Recommendation Letter (Students name).

YOUR APPLICATION IS NOT COMPLETED WITH ALL OF THESE REQUIREMENTS

The following applicants are ineligible: 

  • Students who have previously carried out an exchange by UTEC; (Remember you can participate on the exchange program just one time to give the opportunity to other students);
  • Students who are not enrolled as a full-time during all the process and who do not intend to do it the following semester at UTEC;
  • Students with one or more serious disciplinary sanctions or suspension and/or academic risk at UTEC;
  • Students with outstanding debts at UTEC;
  • This program is only addressed to current full-time UTEC students, NOT part-time students, NOT Alumni;

- Check out the list of available universities in order to select your exchange destination according to your undergraduate program. Remember that you can choose up to three (3) universities in order of priority. (if you are not selected in your first priority, we will offer you the second priority and so on).

- The selection of the University must be based on your academic purposes. We invite you to visit the website of the universities of your interest, check out the courses, additional requirements, among others. (To apply to the Exchange Program, you must be enrolled full-time at UTEC. Likewise, if you are selected for the exchange program, you must carry the minimum load equivalent to 16 UTEC credits at the foreign university, those UTEC credits will be charged in your ballots according to the scale of payments at UTEC and during the semester of exchange, the courses passed under this program will be recognized once the Internationalization Office team have received your official transcript of records).

- To find out which courses will be recognized during your exchange, you must talk with your Academic Director to receive the corresponding academic advice. 

- In case of being a scholar recipient to pursue your studies at UTEC, you must notify the financial institution or Bienestar Estudiantil at programabecas@utec.edu.pe your intention to apply to this program to know the benefits and conditions according to your scholarship.

- Remember that you must upload all the requested documents without exception at the latest on the date and time established in the call (If you are applying to a University in France or Brazil you must, additionally, attach your intermediate level certificate of French or Portuguese language, or a proof that you are currently studying it). Some foreign universities can request an international certificate of English, French or Portuguese that may not appear in this call. Please check out the Academic Information section before selecting the universities of your interest.

- Some foreign universities will request to pay administrative fees, please, before selecting the universities it is important that you verify the amount of the fee in the Academic Information section.

Online Application Form

If you fulfill all the requirements, you are ready to complete the online application form before the deadline, you will be requested to login with your UTEC account, application with personal accounts will not be considered in this process. Additionally, applicants will have the option of saving the information in case of have not completed and submitted all the documents requested, However to successfully submit your application you will be requested to complete all the information and documents of the online application form before the deadline.

Psychological Test

After the deadline, the internationalization team will thoroughly review each application and verify the status of each student with the academic and administrative areas at UTEC. This process can take 3-4 weeks depending on the number of applications received. After this time, the student that has fulfilled all the requirements requested in the online application form will receive a message to his/her UTEC account to take the psychological test, which has an expiration date of 2 working days. (Students who do not complete it within those 2 working days will be left out of the process).

 

Interview

After the student has completed the psychological test, the internationalization team will have to wait for the results of the test from Bienestar Estudiantil (5 working days) to schedule the online or face-to-face interview.

Final Results

The invitation will be sent by email to each applicant for the interview that will be given in virtual format. Each interview lasts 15 to 20 minutes per student and is conducted in English, and for students applying to universities in France or Brazil, the interviews will also be conducted in French or Portuguese. After the interviews the results will be sent by email 5 to 7 days later.
