Global Campus & Students Life
UTEC Campus
UTEC is sitting on the border of two of the and most vibrant and residential districts in Lima, Barranco and Miraflores, just blocks away from the beach and all the main cultural attractions.
Our Campus, designed by Grafton Architects, won the first ever RIBA International Prize in 2016. It is recognized as an inspirational new building in Lima and a bold new addition to the city skyline. Inaugurated in 2015, UTEC already holds a significant number of active- learning spaces, modern infrastructure and technology that exposes students and faculty to a real-world environment.
Students can also spend countless hours building and prototyping solutions in UTEC Garage, an open lab space with diverse machines and equipment; or at UTEC Ventures, an incubator and accelerator for startups, housed within the University, which is in constant contact and interaction with students, faculty and staff.
UTEC Garage
The UTEC Campus features a significant number of active-learning spaces that expose students and faculty to a real-world environment. UTEC GARAGE is an open lab and versatile space of 250m2 specially equipped for hands-on experimentation and project-based learning. These approaches are aligned with the theoretical-practical training UTEC offers its students that are an essential component in the development of an engineer's skills.
UTEC Ventures
UTEC Ventures, our pillar for entrepreneurship, offers mentoring, acceleration, incubation and access to our network of angel investors to startups in the local ecosystem. Housed within the Campus and in constant contact and interaction with students, faculty and staff, UTEC Ventures is a crucial component of our educational model by providing inspiration, significant exposure to startups, and relevant hands-on entrepreneurial training to students.
International Students Peer Mentorship Program
The programs assist our incoming international students to successfully transition and integrate to life in Lima and at UTEC. We match current local students with incoming international students to create small communities of support based on similar academic interests. Through guided peer-to-peer mentoring, students empower each other to create community and feel connected to their new environment.
The mentors will reach out to the incoming international students to answer questions before they leave their home countries and during their stay at UTEC. The peer mentorship program will organize a variety of activities as well as one-on-one conversations with their mentor. Mentors will introduce and connect their mentees to campus and help them make the most out of their experience in Lima at UTEC.

Living in Lima
Peru offers a wide variety of experiences from its glorious history and mind-blowing archaeological sites and Inca ruins to amazing beaches and trekking through the Amazon rainforest. Peru is a fascinating and exciting place filled with music, dance, cuisine, and outdoor activities. Peru’s diversity makes it one of the best places for students to study abroad. In your free time you can explore the country and visit Machu Picchu in Cuzco, go to the desert or even take surfing lessons.
Housing
All international students are advised to accommodate in districts like Barranco or Miraflores in order to develop a more comprehensive experience taking advantage of their time and Lima’s cultural offering. Information on specific housing options with Peruvian families or student houses will be provided directly to students once the exchange coordinator sends their application.
You will share your apartment with other international students. The locations, layouts, and amenities vary, but the residences where most international students live are located in Barranco or Miraflores. All apartments are conveniently located near shops, restaurants, and stores.
Each apartment is fully furnished and outfitted with fully equipped kitchens, washer/dryer, and secure access to the building. Utilities like internet, cable TV, light and water are covered by the rent.
Meals
You can eat at the on-campus cafeteria during regular operating hours. There is no meal plan, so you will pay for what you like. Additionally, you can buy groceries and cook your own meals, or dine out. Former students recommend making breakfast and dinner and buying lunch.
VISA & Resident Permit
The UTEC Internationalization Office will help you with the visa process. The team will contact you and will request the necessary documents to start the application.
Spanish
This is a great opportunity to improve/learn Spanish, one of the most widely used languages in the world after English. This is your opportunity to attain fluency in another language, which will increase your professional as well as academic profile. We can recommend several opportunities to improve/learn Spanish ranging from Spanish schools, to universities and private classes in Lima and Cuzco.
