Darmouth College, Thayer School of Engineering

The International 4+1 Program with Dartmouth College, The Thayer School of Engineering leads students to the award of both the Bachelor from UTEC and a Master of Engineering Degree Program from Darmouth College, Thayer School of Engineering, simultaneously. You will complete the first four years of study in UTEC and apply to Darmouth College Thayer School of Engineering admission. The first four years will be spent in Lima, while the last year of your Masters degree will be developed in New Hampshire. 

Depending of your Bachelor of Engineering Degree at UTEC you could apply in one of the following Master’s of Engineering at Thayer School of Engineering, Dartmouth College:

Requirements for the 4+1 program. Master of Engineering Degree Program at Thayer School of Engineering, Dartmouth Colleg​e: 

YOUR APPLICATION IS NOT COMPLETED WITH ALL OF THESE REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be a full-time current student at UTEC during all the process
Applicants must have approved 160 or more UTEC credits + Proyecto Preprofesional Course (RLE)
Applicants must possess a 16.00 GPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) or better. 
You will be required to submit your Transcript of Records; you can download the unofficial version totally free from (EDU system).

As an applicant, you must possess an excellent level of verbal and written English skills. You must submit one of these certificates TOEFL iBT with a score of 100 or higher for the internet-based (iBT). The minimum sub-score for each section of the TOEFL iBT is 20. IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 or higher, with at least 6.0 in each section. Duolingo with a score of at least 135 or higher. 

Applicants must possess a valid passport for the duration of their studies abroad or present an evidence of the Passport processing

Applicant will be required to submit an undocumented Curriculum Vitae in English language (1-2 pages max).
Applicant will be required to submit one motivation essay in English language addressed to the Internationalization Office (1-2 pages max).

Applicants must request three recommendation letters to current UTEC professors, the letters must be written in English language and addressed to the Thayer School of Engineering, Dartmouth College.

The professors will send the recommendation letter to the following email: Exchange@utec.edu.pe with the subject: Recommendation Letter (Students name).

 

The following applicants are ineligible: 

  • Students who are not enrolled as a full-time during all the process and who do not intend to do it the following semester at UTEC;
  • Students with one or more serious disciplinary sanctions or suspension and/or academic risk at UTEC;
  • Students with outstanding debts at UTEC;
  • This program is only addressed to current full-time UTEC students, NOT part-time students, NOT Alumni;

 

*One scholarship will be awarded by UTEC for one of the Master of Engineering degree programs at the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College. The selection for this scholarship will be based on the student’s academic achievements and performance during the interview process.

This rigorous evaluation will ensure the recipient is well-suited to represent UTEC at this prestigious institution.

If you fulfill all the requirements, you are ready to complete the online application form before the deadline, you will be requested to login with your UTEC account, application with personal accounts will not be considered in this process. To successfully submit your application you will be requested to complete all the information and documents of the online application form before the deadline.

Psychological Test

The internationalization team will review each application and verify the status of each student with the academic and administrative areas at UTEC. After this time, the student that has fulfilled all the requirements requested in the online application form will receive a message to his/her UTEC account to take the psychological test, which has an expiration date of 2 working days.

Interview

When the student has completed the psychological test, the internationalization team will have to wait for the results of the test from Bienestar Estudiantil (2 working days) to schedule the online interview.

After the personal interview, the Internationalization Office will contact selected candidates by email with instructions for student's acceptance.  Selected students are required to accept or deny the position offered abroad by sending an email.

Darmouth College Process

UTEC pre-selected students must apply to Dartmouth following these general requirements:

  • ► Admissions application
  • ► Pay an application fee  ($50 is required of all applicants)
  • ► Three (3) letters of recommendation must be completed and submitted online directly by your recommenders addressed to Thayer School, Dartmouth College.
  • Applicants with international transcripts are encouraged to submit a transcript evaluation from WES (World Education Services) along with their Dartmouth Engineering application. While a WES evaluation is not mandatory for admission, it can help expedite the application review process. If you are admitted, you will need to submit official academic transcripts for all your international coursework and credentials. WES evaluations can be used instead of official transcripts, but they must be sent directly to Dartmouth Engineering by the evaluation service provider, and they must include a copy of the official transcripts that were evaluated.
  • One motivation essay in English language addressed to Thayer School, Dartmouth College.
  • ► One letter of recommendation is required and should come from someone who knows you in a professional or academic context addressed to Thayer School, Dartmouth College.
  • ► Supplemental Form: Engineering Focus Area, Statement of Purpose/Essay, CV/Resume & Financial Aid
  • TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo (International Applicants)
  • ► GREs are optional for all Dartmouth Engineering graduate programs.
