Duke University, The Fuqua School of Business - 2027 Intake

The Consecutive Master's (4+1) Program with Duke University – The Fuqua School of Business allows students to earn both their UTEC bachelor's degree and a Duke University master's degree.

Students complete the first four years of their undergraduate studies at UTEC and apply for admission to Duke University during their final year. Upon admission, they will spend the fifth year completing their master's degree in Durham, North Carolina.

The International 4+1 Program with Duke University, The Fuqua School of Business leads students to the award of both the Bachelor from UTEC and a Master Degree. from Duke University, simultaneously. You will complete the first four years of study in UTEC and apply to Duke University, The Fuqua School of Business their admission. The first four years will be spent in Lima, while the last year of your Masters degree will be developed in Durham.

The 2027 intake is expected to begin in July 2027.

Costs

Please note that participation in this program involves the following costs:

  • Tuition and mandatory university fees at the host university.
  • Living expenses, as well as travel and visa costs, and any other personal expenses incurred during your stay in the United States.
  • UTEC academic fees, including the applicable credit validation fees, in accordance with the current UTEC payment schedule.

Requirements for the 4+1 program.  Master’s Programs, Fuqua School of Business - Duke University: 

YOUR APPLICATION IS NOT COMPLETED WITH ALL OF THESE REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be a full-time current student at UTEC during all the process
Applicants must have approved 160 or more UTEC credits + Proyecto Preprofesional Course (RLE)
Applicants must possess a 14.50 GPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) or better. 
You will be required to submit your Transcript of Records; you can download the unofficial version totally free from (EDU system).

As an applicant, you must demonstrate an excellent level of verbal and written English proficiency. You must submit one of the following English proficiency certificates:

  • TOEFL iBT (internet-based): minimum overall score of 95 (0–120 scale) or 5.0 (1–6 scale)
  • IELTS (Academic): minimum overall score of 7.0
  • Duolingo English Test: minimum score of 125

Please note: TOEFL iTP (paper-based) is not accepted for the Duke University application.

Additionally, if you are preselected by UTEC to apply to Duke University, you must meet Duke University’s standardized test requirement by submitting either a GMAT Focus Edition score or a GRE score, as applicable.

Applicants must possess a valid passport for the duration of their studies abroad or present an evidence of the Passport processing

Applicant will be required to submit an undocumented Curriculum Vitae in English language (1-2 pages max).
Applicant will be required to submit one motivation essay in English language addressed to the Internationalization Office (1-2 pages max).

Applicants must request two recommendation letters to current UTEC professors, the letters can be written in Spanish or English language and addressed to the Internationalization Office.

The professors will send the recommendation letter to the following email: Exchange@utec.edu.pe with the subject: Recommendation Letter (Students name).

 

The following applicants are ineligible: 

  • Students who are not enrolled as a full-time during all the process and who do not intend to do it the following semester at UTEC;
  • Students with one or more serious disciplinary sanctions or suspension and/or academic risk at UTEC;
  • Students with outstanding debts at UTEC;
  • This program is only addressed to current full-time UTEC students, NOT part-time students, NOT Alumni;

*This program is open to UTEC students from different undergraduate programs who meet the eligibility requirements.

To successfully submit your application you will be requested to complete all the information and documents of the online application form before the deadline.

Interview and Final Results

After the application deadline, eligible applicants will be contacted through their UTEC email with instructions to schedule a virtual interview. Interviews will be conducted in English and will last approximately 15–20 minutes.

After the interviews, the Internationalization Office will notify applicants of the final results by email. Selected students will receive further instructions to accept or decline the position offered abroad.

UTEC pre-selected students must apply to Duke following these general requirements:

    ACCEPTED ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TESTS - Fuqua accepts the following English language proficiency tests: Duolingo English Test (preferred) | TOEFL iBT  | TOEFL (new 1-6 scale) | IELTS Academic
  • ► Fuqua accepts both GMAT and GRE scores
  • One page resume
  • You’ll need to provide your thoughts on one short-answer question and two essays as part of your application in English language
  • ► One letter of recommendation is required and should come from someone who knows you in a professional or academics context
  • ► Official academic transcripts and degree certificates and with official English translations, if necessary, from all post-secondary institutions attended
  • ► Financial Responsibility form and official bank statements
