The International 4+1 Program with Duke University, The Fuqua School of Business leads students to the award of both the Bachelor from UTEC and a Master Degree. from Duke University, simultaneously. You will complete the first four years of study in UTEC and apply to Duke University, The Fuqua School of Business their admission. The first four years will be spent in Lima, while the last year of your Masters degree will be developed in Durham.

Requirements for the 4+1 program.  Master’s Programs, Fuqua School of Business - Duke University: 

YOUR APPLICATION IS NOT COMPLETED WITH ALL OF THESE REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be a full-time current student at UTEC during all the process
Applicants must have approved 160 or more UTEC credits + Proyecto Preprofesional Course (RLE)
Applicants must possess a 14.50 GPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) or better. 
You will be required to submit your Transcript of Records; you can download the unofficial version totally free from (EDU system).

As an applicant, you must demonstrate an excellent level of verbal and written English proficiency.

Applicants who do not yet have a GMAT Focus Edition score of 515 or higher, or a GRE total score of 308 or higher (with a minimum of 154 in each section), may submit one of the following English proficiency certificates:

  • TOEFL iTP (paper-based): minimum score of 550

  • TOEFL iBT (internet-based): minimum overall score of 80, with a minimum sub-score of 20 in each section

  • IELTS (Academic): minimum overall score of 6.5, with at least 6.0 in each section

Applicants must possess a valid passport for the duration of their studies abroad or present an evidence of the Passport processing

Applicant will be required to submit an undocumented Curriculum Vitae in English language (1-2 pages max).
Applicant will be required to submit one motivation essay in English language addressed to the Internationalization Office (1-2 pages max).

Applicants must request two recommendation letters to current UTEC professors, the letters can be written in Spanish or English language and addressed to the Internationalization Office.

The professors will send the recommendation letter to the following email: Exchange@utec.edu.pe with the subject: Recommendation Letter (Students name).

 

The following applicants are ineligible: 

  • Students who are not enrolled as a full-time during all the process and who do not intend to do it the following semester at UTEC;
  • Students with one or more serious disciplinary sanctions or suspension and/or academic risk at UTEC;
  • Students with outstanding debts at UTEC;
  • This program is only addressed to current full-time UTEC students, NOT part-time students, NOT Alumni;

*This program is open to UTEC students from different undergraduate programs who meet the eligibility requirements. Once pre-selected, participants may submit their application to the master’s program for which they qualify at the Fuqua School of Business – Duke University, Round 2 – 2026.

**UTEC will award one scholarship covering tuition for one of the master’s programs offered by the Fuqua School of Business – Duke University, 2026.
All eligible applicants from the different UTEC undergraduate programs participating in Round 2 will be considered. The evaluation process will take into account the student’s academic record and performance during the interview to determine scholarship eligibility.

Psychological Test

The internationalization team will review each application and verify the status of each student with the academic and administrative areas at UTEC. After this time, the student that has fulfilled all the requirements requested in the online application form will receive a message to his/her UTEC account to take the psychological test, which has an expiration date of 2 working days.

Interview

When the student has completed the psychological test, the internationalization team will have to wait for the results of the test from Bienestar Estudiantil (2 working days) to schedule the interview.

After the personal interview, the Internationalization Office will contact selected candidates by email with instructions for student's acceptance. Selected students are required to accept or deny the position offered abroad by sending an email.

UTEC pre-selected students must apply to Duke following these general requirements: 

  • ► Admissions application
  • ► Estimated cost of attendance - MQM (subject to annual variation) 
  • ► Estimated cost of attendance - MMS (subject to annual variation) 
  • ► Estimated cost of attendance - MBCS (subject to annual variation) 
  • ► Pay an application fee
  • ► Fuqua accepts both GMAT and GRE scores
  • One page resume
  • You’ll need to provide your thoughts on one short-answer question and two essays as part of your application in English language
  • ► One letter of recommendation is required and should come from someone who knows you in a professional or academics context
  • ► Official academic transcripts and degree certificates and with official English translations, if necessary, from all post-secondary institutions attended
  • ► Financial Responsibility form and official bank statements
