Purdue Polytechnic (USA)

The International Program with Purdue Polytechnic leads students to the award of both the Bachelor of Engineering from UTEC and the Bachelor of Technology - BTech from Purdue, simultaneously. The first four years will be spent in Lima, while the last year of the Bachelor's degree will be developed in Indiana.

 

Program Duration (2027 Cohort):

The Double Degree Program has a duration of one academic year at Purdue University, starting in January 2027:
Spring Term: January – May | Summer Term: May – August | Fall Term: August – December

Participation in the Double Degree Program involves the following cost components:

- Check out if you fulfill with all the requirements before starting your application and verify the deadline (after the deadline there will be no option to apply).

Requirements for the Dual Degree Program: 

➨Applicants must be full-time Mechanical Engineering students at UTEC during all the process. 

➨Applicants must have approved 130 or more UTEC credits at the time of application.

➨Applicants must possess a 13.00 GPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) or better. You will be required to submit your Transcript of Records; you can download the unofficial version totally free from (EDU system) or official transcript issued by Academic Services in English.

➨Applicants must possess an excellent level of verbal and written English language. You will be required to submit one of these English certificates with the following scores:

  • TOEFL iBT with a minimum overall score of 88 (and a minimum sub-score of 20 in each section) for tests taken before January 21, 2026, or a minimum overall score of 4.5 (and a minimum sub-score of 4.0 in each section) for tests taken on or after January 21, 2026.

  • IELTS Academic with a score of 6.5 (with a minimum sub-score of 6.0 for each section)

  • Duolingo with a score of at least 115 or higher

TOEFL IBT,  IELTS ACADEMIC AND DUOLINGO certifications are valid for 2 years. Certifications with more than 2 years old cannot be accepted for this program.

➨Applicants must possess a valid passport for the duration of your studies abroad. You will be required to submit a scanned copy of the personal data sheet.

IMPORTANT: No document other than the passport will be accepted, as it is required for the student visa application.

➨Applicant will be required to submit an undocumented Curriculum Vitae in English language (1-2 pages max).

➨Applicant will be required to submit a personal statment in English language (1-2 pages max).

➨Applicants must request one recommendation letter to a current UTEC professor, the letter can be written in Spanish or English language and addressed to the Internationalization Office.

The professor will send the recommendation letter to the following email: Exchange@utec.edu.pe with the subject: Recommendation Letter (Students name).

The following applicants are ineligible: UTEC students with a grave disciplinary sanction or suspension from the university and/or with outstanding debts to the institution.

Your application will not be considered complete until all of the following requirements have been met.

The following applicants are ineligible: 

  • Students who are not enrolled as a full-time during all the process and who do not intend to do it the following semester at UTEC;
  • Students with one or more serious disciplinary sanctions or suspension and/or academic risk at UTEC;
  • Students with outstanding debts at UTEC;
  • This program is only addressed to current full-time UTEC students, NOT part-time students, NOT Alumni;

IMPORTANT:
All applicants will undergo an evaluation of their academic record (Transcript of Records). This evaluation will verify that they meet the program’s academic requirements and determine their eligibility to proceed with the Double Degree selection process.

  • ◉ Meeting the minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee selection by UTEC.

  • ◉ Nomination by UTEC does not guarantee admission to Purdue University.

  • ◉ Final admission decisions are made exclusively by Purdue University.

  • ◉ Purdue University reserves the right to determine the academic requirements necessary for completion of the Purdue degree.

  • ◉ Students are responsible for ensuring that all submitted information and supporting documentation are accurate and complete.

  • ◉ Applicants must ensure they meet all passport requirements as required by authorities.

  • ◉ Please remember that all required documents must be uploaded before the application deadline. Incomplete applications or applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

  • ◉ Applicants must ensure they meet all administrative requirements set by UTEC, such as have no disciplinary sanctions or outstanding debts.

Application Process

  • Expression of Interest (June - July)

Students submit their application during the official UTEC call for applications.

  • Document Submission (June - July)

Applicants submit all required documentation listed in the before applying section.

  • Institutional Review and Interview (August)

The UTEC International Office and the corresponding academic department review each application, considering academic performance, eligibility, motivation, and readiness for an international academic experience. Applicants will  participate in an academic interview and undergo a wellbeing assessment. 

  • UTEC Nomination (August)

Selected students are officially nominated by UTEC to continue with Purdue University's admission process.
